Stratified Aggregate Restorative
The dentin is a stratified aggregate composition featuring a specific variety and range of particle types and sizes that produce a strong foundation with amalgam-like handling characteristics. Because it handles like amalgam, many of the same armamentarium and techniques can be used to establish occlusal contours, proximal surfaces and interproximal contacts. It employs a more hydrophobic and less viscous resin matrix using an ethoxylated resin that reduces water sorption and allows for high filler loading. The high filler content ensures that the restorative will not slump.
The enamel features the same hydrophobic resin as the dentin, with more than 80% filler. It is a non-sticky material for enhanced sculptability. Higher filler and proprietary resin provide wear-resistance and strength, while the small particles enhance polishability.
