SmithKline Beecham Gets ADA Seal for Whitening Paste
Pittsburgh -- SmithKline Beecham Consumer Healthcare has announced that its Aquafresh Whitening toothpaste earned the American Dental Association Seal of Acceptance. The ADA Seal stands as a symbol of safety, efficacy and quality.
New labeling, packaging and promotional materials will now include the following statement from the ADA's Council on Scientific Affairs:
"Aquafresh Whitening Toothpaste has been found to be a safe and effective decay-preventive dentifrice that can be of significant value when used as directed in a conscientiously applied program of oral hygiene and regular professional care. It has been shown to whiten teeth by removing surface stains. It has been shown to reduce the formation of tartar above the gumline, but has not been shown to have a therapeutic benefit on periodontal disease."
"We are very excited to have received the ADA seal. It reconfirms our consumer's long-standing trust in our product as well as reassures them of its overall quality, safety and efficacy," says Jeff Brown, vice president and director, Oral Care, Dermatologicals, Analgesics, and Feminine Care U.S., SmithKline Beecham Consumer Healthcare. Aquafresh Whitening's patented formula contains Triclene, a special ingredient that breaks up and removes stains.
Other Aquafresh products to feature the ADA seal are its Fluoride Protection, Kids and All with Tartar Control toothpastes.
