Astralis 7 is a polymerization light that features three different programs, which adjust the light intensity to the clinical situation at hand. The Low Power Program (LOP) maintains the light intensity at a constant 400 mW/cm2. It prevents overheating and injury of the pulp when curing bonding materials, adhesives, liners and sealants in deep cavities and cervical areas. The light intensity of the High Power Program (HIP) is 750 mW/cm2. This program ensures reliable polymerization results for indirect restorations.

The PULSE Program (PUL) gently cures all direct restoratives. In the first 15 seconds, the light increases from 150 to 400 mW/cm2. For the next 25 seconds, the light pulses between 400 and 750 mW/cm2. This method can decrease internal polymer stress and therefore reduce the formation of marginal gaps. The device features a CPC program (Continuous Power Control), which indicates any drop in the light intensity on a display in the handpiece. It is not affected by voltage fluctuations and electronic controls compensate voltage fluctuations and ensure consistent performance. Additionally, the product features a halogen bulb that lasts two to three times longer than other curing lights.
