Milestone Hopes To Wave Magic Wand Over Ailing Product
According to a company press release, direct sale will allow Milestone to better educate dentists to use of "The Wand." Milestone says it will be positioned to train "Wand" owners in techniques for using the product in new and existing clinical applications. Milestone has begun augmenting its full time clinical sales force, and has also begun creating a professional clinical support staff consisting of dentists and hygienists.
Leonard Osser, chair and CEO of Milestone, said, "Direct sales will allow us to move closer to our clinical partners, the American dentist, and to be more responsive to dentists' needs. By better knowing our customers we can more effectively help them through the learning curve required to first use our revolutionary technology. A major focus of our new direct sales program will be to increase disposable handpiece usage by existing owners of "The Wand" through better training. Existing sales channels have not permitted sufficient product education and thereby impeded owner usage of "The Wand." We are excited and optimistic about the expected benefits to Milestone, our customers and dental patients from this realignment of our sales strategy."
Milestone also announced that it will increase the annual number of its national educational seminars from 4 to 40 and increase its annual attendance at educational conventions from 5 to 27.
