IPS Empress2 is a glass ceramic framework containing lithium disilicate crystals and an overlay glass ceramic containing fluorapatite crystals, similar to those found in natural tooth structure. With this new dental material, there is little if any impingement on the gums and dentists remove less tooth-structure, creating a stronger, more beautiful, metal-free tooth. According to the supplier, it is the first all-purpose material to allow dental professionals to construct stronger, tooth-like, metal-free restorations for bridgework, crowns, veneers, inlays and onlays.
