Glidewell International Technology Center Announces a Surgical Hands-on Course on Small-Diameter Dental Implants: Effective, Predictable and Profitable Treatment of the Edentulous Mandible with Dr. Michael McCracken
Irvine, California (PRWEB) - The Glidewell International Technology Center, Glidewell Laboratories’ state-of-the-art training, education and technology demonstration center located in Irvine, Calif., is offering a surgical, hands-on course that will teach the general dentist how to successfully treat the edentulous patient with small-diameter dental implants and cost-effective overdenture solutions. Clinicians who take this course will learn fundamental surgical procedures, treatment planning protocols and restorative steps necessary to easily select and treat patients with mandibular overdentures.
The two-day course, scheduled for June 21–22, 2013, at 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. PST (Day 1) and 8:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m. PST (Day 2), emphasizes effective utilization of technology and standardized protocols that maximize profitability and predictability of patient treatment. Tuition is $695 per attendee. Participants who complete the course will be eligible for 13 hours of continuing education credit through the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) Program Approval for Continuing Education (PACE) program.
Dr. Michael McCracken, practicing dentist and co-director of the Comprehensive Implant Residency Program (CIRP) in Birmingham, Ala., will lead the course. “Dr. McCracken is the best lecturer I have ever seen, and I have been in practice for 29 years,” said Dr. Donald D. Cobb Jr., a past participant from Little Rock, Ark., adding that Dr. McCracken “delivers the material in a clear and concise manner with just the right amount of dry humor.”
Included in the course is a workshop on Inclusive® Mini Implants (Glidewell Laboratories; Newport Beach, Calif.) The surgical portion of the workshop will provide realistic, hands-on experience to familiarize participants with the surgical armamentarium and prosthetic protocol of these small-diameter, self-tapping titanium implants. The course provides practical training on a mandibular model replicated from an actual patient’s CT scan. During the prosthetic portion of the course, participants will receive instruction on performing a soft reline of the denture around the implants and practice standard procedures for “picking up” the O-ring housings.
After completing this course, the dental professional should be able to identify patients suitable for implant therapy, effectively plan and communicate treatment options and benefits to their patients, and describe and manage restorative techniques for implant overdentures. Participants will also be able to recognize and describe the surgical anatomy of the edentulous patient. By utilizing 3-D imaging and surgical guides, participants will be equipped with an understanding of traditional flap and surgical techniques and learn marketing and financial strategies for successfully integrating implant dentistry into their practices.
