CORONET-Werke GmbH
Innovation Leader in Toothbrushes, Toothbrush Technologies, and Toothbrush Bristles
The C'Oral Care® members of the Coronet Group of Companies
The main office of the parent company of the internationally renowned Coronet Group was founded in 1920 and is located in Wald-Michelbach in the Odenwald. Starting as a small-scale expert for wooden household articles, Coronet has grown into a corporation consisting of 20 domestic and foreign companies with a total of 2,000 employees. Today Coronet develops, produces and markets products for oral care, household, clothing care, hair care and body care, cosmetic applications, painting equipment etc. all made of synthetic materials, metal or wood. The permanent quest for new and even better products has led in several sectors especially in oral care to the position of technology and innovation leader on domestic and foreign markets.
This especially applies to the development of anchorless bristling processes. The idea of a brush without bristle anchors is an old one. A first patent was issued in the year 1883 already. In the years to follow many solutions to make anchorless toothbrushes were developed and a great number of patents in the world literature deal with the task.
For decades Coronet has carried out successful research and development work in the area of brush making. In the fifties Coronet developed bi-level cut, later in the 80‘s followed by developments like 2-component handles, fusing-on process, and the molding-in process. And it was Coronet serializing the worldwide first anchorless toothbrush to capture a new market.
In the late eighties Coronet produced the first anchorless toothbrushes for Blendax, in those times market leader in Germany. In the U.S. Procter & Gamble followed in 1992 with the anchorless toothbrush „Crest" made with Coronet manufacturing technologies. The great success of these brushes made Procter & Gamble award Coronet for its outstanding performance.
The most important patents covering anchorless bristling techniques are in the possession of Coronet, among others for example the Coronet-Fuse-On-Bristling-Process, the Coronet-In-Mold-Bristling-Processes, the technique for optimum handling of bristle spools, for special geometries and topographies as well as the brilliant process of bristle endrounding. In the 90‘s a range of innovative toothbrush bristles was added, also the high-speed-bristling machinery for anchorless production, single bristle brushes, laser application technology and so on. Experts prophesy the both latter significant market effect.
Coronet is a realiable partner to almost all great global players appreciating its work rich in ideas, unbureaucratic and capable as well as the rapid and precise realization of customer demands. To safeguard the competitive edge Coronet protects its innovations by national and international patents and patent applications. The number owned by the Coronet Group in the meantime growed to nearly 2,500 – mainly serving the field of oral care. Is it a brush, a certain manufacturing technique or a novel bristle – Coronet is able to grant its partners individual exclusivity and herewith competitive advantage.

The C'Oral Care® companies profit by the regularly exchange of experience upgrading their competitive advantages by constant development of new processes and products.
However Coronet sees not the brush itself or a certain brush head configuration to have the only prime importance. In fact, much more attention is drawn to the bristles – the working part of a toothbrush. Since decades Coronet concentrates to the optimization of the bristling material. Therefore it is not amazing that the bristle manufacturer of the Coronet Group, the Pedex company, since 1975 followed the path of success. The Pedex range offers all standard filaments of Nylon 6, 6.6 and 6.12 as well as of polyester and other materials and two- and more component bristles. In addition, the DIN and ISO approved Pedex today is the most innovative producer of filaments worldwide. Extensive R&D work also in scientific cooperation with universities, research institutes or clinics enables the rapid development of innovative bristles with unique features and their examination under normal usage conditions. 31 of these basic innovations with additional variants were introduced at the Interbrossa Fair held in Freiburg in Germany back in April.
Bristles met with great approval of the fair visitors are for example the applicator bristle and the antimicrobial bristle Dentosan – two of many successful results emerging from the cooperation of Pedex and all Coronet companies. A special process allows to equip the applicator bristle with almost every organic or inorganic medium and to apply it during brush action in defined dosage. Please contact for further information:
