ASEPTO-SOL
The University tested and proven disinfecting technique can be performed in a single step at chairside, by spraying or soaking the impression in Asepto-Sol solution for 10 minutes.
As an extra precaution, the solution can be mixed with the gypsum itself without any risk of dimensional change, or weakening of the stone cast.
Biomaterials research to determine the effects of Asepto-Sol on gypsum products have shown no deviation in the physical charactieristics, i.e. hardess, tensile and compressive strength, expansion, or fine detail reproduction of the products tested.
Similarly, microbiological tests found the technique to be effective in the elimination of the pathogens, thereby achieving a level of efficacy not possible with conventional disinfectants.*
Because the technique can be readily implemented, it is now possible for the dental office and laboratory to fully comply with State and Federal infection control requirements pertaining to impression/cast asepsis.
Asepto-Sol is available in tablet form. A single 5 gm. tablet makes 1 liter/quart of disinfecting solution. It is packaged in jars of 100 gm (20 tablets) and 300gm (60 tablets). The cost per impression/cast is between 3 and 4 cents.
